Bakin’ Up Some Scrapbook Layouts

Shabby Art Boutique has delivered a fabulous monthly printable kit for their Handmade Club once again!

Although I don’t cook or bake (if it were up to me, the kitchen would be an extension of my craft room….and has been in the past – lol), I had so much fun working with these delicious images.

I think my favorite images are the apple pie goodies, although there are also fig pies, strawberry cupcakes and cakes, macarons, and lots more. I had to ask my husband to bake something when I was done, as I’m pretty sure I was drooling.

If you like fussy cutting, you’re going to love this monthly kit! Check out my YouTube video too, on tips and techniques for using and decorating your printables (along with how to make the painted backgrounds on my 12×12 layouts):

I have all my new layouts available now in my eBay shop. Have some family baking photos? Holiday get-togethers? Time with Grandma? This layouts are perfect for so many “sweet” occasions. 🙂

A touch of Glossy Accents really adds pop and dimension when working with printables. I added some to my cake, apples, strawberry centers, and frosting. It dries super shiny and almost embossed looking.

This was my first time working with honeycomb patchwork paper too, and I really love the look! I think they added a nice farm country touch.

Please be sure to check out my Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube channels too for updates, sales, and all things crafty!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy crafting!

Steampunk

I made this 8×8 album as a special order for a steampunk album. It was my first time making anything in this style and it was fun using lots of new materials- from Swellegant paints to Prima Marketing metallic waxes.

I used Etsy printables for the paper backgrounds and many of the printed embellishments .

I made this pressure gauge out of cardboard that I painted with the copper Swellegant paint. I added liquid diamonds to the printed gear face so it would look like glass and then finished it off with brads, a Tim Holtz year and a lightbulb embellishment (also by Tim Holtz).

Up, up, and away!

Gesso and metallic paints helped bring these pages to life!

Pockets!

This was a fun collage. I used buttons, keys, glass beads, and even screws to add layers and texture. Then I covered the whole thing with black gesso. Once that was dry, I lightly went over the pieces with Prima Marketing silver wax.

I love these clock die cuts from Tim Holtz. I cut out several for this album.

I used lots of lace and some burlap to give the pages dimension…

This last page has tags that tuck in behind the lightbulb print.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope these pages inspire you – feel free to comment or send me photos of your work as well. I would love to see what you make!

Emmet Lego Movie Birthday Card – Free Emmet SVG Cutting File

Emmet Lego Movie Card

Everything (about this card) is awesome!

I made this for a very special four-year-old’s birthday party this weekend. Like it? Want to make one yourself?

I created the SVG cut file for my Cricut SCAL. Feel free to email me at gspeegle@gmail.com for the free file (WordPress doesn’t let me attach SVG files), if you want to make a card for yourself as well.

For Emmet’s outfit, I chalked the edges with light blue and then added some custom details with a Sharpie and strips of hand-cut gum wrapper. I printed out this image on the side here so that I could cut out the hair, smile and Emmet badge.

Lego MovieI also cut out several .5 inch circles and inked them with green Color Box Cat’s Eye chalk ink, before affixing them to the background with foam pop dots.

Inside, is a custom song, based on the “Everything is Awesome” tune from the Lego Movie:

“Everything is awesome!

Everything is awesome when you’re no longer three.

Everything is awesoooooome

At your birthday party!”

My Little Pumpkin Turns One

Pumpkin Patch Birthday Party

On evenings when my little guy, Henry, decides to sleep well, I enjoy the occasional paper piecing. Granted, they make the scrapbook layout-making process much longer (this double-page layout took me a little over 2 hours), however, I am always so pleased with the results.

I used the Miss Kate Cuttables Pumpkins in Wagon SVG for my Cricut. I originally incorporated the eight layer pumpkins into my invitations, and then realized how perfect they would be on the scrapbook page as well. I used the invitation as my main embellishment, since it already contained all the party details.

We had Henry’s birthday at the Country Mercantile pumpkin patch, so it was perfect!

The Boo Crew 2014

We went a little batty this Halloween.
We went a little batty this Halloween.

Halloween 2014 – good times! Just finished this year’s layouts for my scrapbook and wanted to share.

The layout above was made using cardstock from the Authentique Spirited paper line. I love the fun double-sided cardstock and notecard embellishments.

It also worked nicely with the My Mind’s Eye Frightful collection that I used for the double layout below.

Happy Halloween from the Boo Crew!

The toughest part of this layout was deciding which side of the cardstock to use – both sides were super cute!halloween layout 5

My Cricut Happy Hauntings cartridge allowed me to make this spoooooooooky title.

I found the inspiration for my double-page layout from this Creating Keepsakes sketch from 2011.
