Happy stitching, my craft-loving friends, and enjoy!
When life gives you time, make giant tapestries! We’ve been home now for a few months due to COVID social distancing, so I figured it was a great time to start a cross stitch project the size of a 12-year-old. 🙂
I made this amazing Alice in Wonderland silhouette cross stitch pattern the other day and I wanted it BIG. It’s 32×45.29 inches, on a 14 count fabric! It only uses one color though, so it shouldn’t be too bad, right? …….. Right? I’m going to use 3 strands of black DMC 310 throughout so it’s a thicker weave.
Here’s a video I made of me putting the 36 page chart together:
Here’s a picture of my 3-year-old next to the pieced together pattern. It’s 100% bananas.
It all begins with one stitch:
Here’s a picture of me stitching on a 59 inch Aida cloth. It definitely takes a little bit to get used to:
Week one done, and feeling good:
I’m excited about the process and I hope you’ll join me on my journey! Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebookfor weekly photo updates, and let me know what you think of this project! Here’s a link to the chart, if you’d like to stitch it along with me, too!
Thanks so much for crafting with me, and happy stitching! xoxo
I thought you might enjoy a cross stitch project you can easily begin on without having to go to the store for lots of DMC colors. This freebie pattern uses only 1-2 colors (depending on whether or not you choose to stitch the background).
Ever wonder how to begin what may appear to be a daunting journey? Well, look no further, my friend! Bella Stitchery is here to the rescue!
Rest assured, it’s actually not that difficult once you get started. I just posted a YouTube video all about how to read and begin a cross stitch chart, along with some background information on Aida cloth and needle sizing.
In the video, I promised to provide you with the “Meh.” pattern free if you’d like to practice your newly acquired knowledge. Well, here you go. Just open, print or save, and start stitching today!
Happy Friday! Every week I post a free pattern download. They’re available for 24 hours. After that, you can find them in my Etsy and eBay shops.
This famous artwork is all about the intimacy of the girl’s gaze toward the viewer. It’s haunting and engaging. I was so excited to make this into a unique, one-of-a-kind cross-stitch pattern.
Want to work with a pin-up? Cross-stitch pattern, that is. These kitschy pin-ups are some of my favorite retro illustrations, and my earliest cross-stitch pattern creations were based on famous pin-up art from the 1950’s.
You can find these and lots more saucy fabulousness at my Etsy shop – I have so many available, they even have their very own category!

In a world full of color, sometimes it’s the bold shades of brown that catch our eye the most. I’m on a sepia kick right now, and am excited to share these gorgeous cross-stitch patterns with you!
I have had so much fun making patterns for everything from flowers to celebrities!
Cross-stitching, embroidering, quilting – all great, wonderful craft options. They are very time consuming, however, and I always have a dozen or so cross-stitch patterns in my hopper. Sometimes, I want to make a quick little something, either for my wall or to make as a gift. Enter, the fabric block.
If you haven’t worked with fabric blocks before, you are in for a treat! They are SO versatile and easy to work with. I make my own here at Bella Stitchery, and have several here in my Etsy shop under the “Fabric Block” category. I can also custom print designs or images for you as well. Fabric blocks are great to frame and hang as-is, or you can personalize them with your own special embroidery and embellishment. The sky is the limit!
Welcome to my Bella Stitchery blog, and I am so happy to give you today’s freebie pattern!
I made it just last night with the help of a Vintage Thanksgiving illustration, Photoshop, my cross-stitch software, and some late-night coffee (love the Caramel Brulée Latte from Starbucks).
Simply click here to download the pattern, complete with DMC floss requirements. All the stitches are full X stitches, so it’s great for any level of cross-stitcher. This piece will be approximately 20×12.25 inches, based on a 14 count fabric (you can use any size you like, however) and the stitch count is 280×173.
