Biggest Cross Stitch Ever

rsz_alice_in_wonderland_silhouette

When life gives you time, make giant tapestries! We’ve been home now for a few months due to COVID social distancing, so I figured it was a great time to start a cross stitch project the size of a 12-year-old.  🙂

I made this amazing Alice in Wonderland silhouette cross stitch pattern the other day and I wanted it BIG. It’s 32×45.29 inches, on a 14 count fabric! It only uses one color though, so it shouldn’t be too bad, right? …….. Right? I’m going to use 3 strands of black DMC 310 throughout so it’s a thicker weave.

Here’s a video I made of me putting the 36 page chart together:

Here’s a picture of my 3-year-old next to the pieced together pattern. It’s 100% bananas.

It all begins with one stitch:

Here’s a picture of me stitching on a 59 inch Aida cloth. It definitely takes a little bit to get used to:

I’m excited about the process and I hope you’ll join me on my journey! Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebookfor weekly photo updates, and let me know what you think of this project! Here’s a link to the chart, if you’d like to stitch it along with me, too!

Thanks so much for crafting with me, and happy stitching! xoxo

I’ve learned several ways to dye my ribbons and trims, using various ink and paint brands and am happy to share this trick with you!

Meat Tornado

“The less I know about other people’s affairs, the happier I am. I’m not interested in caring about people. I once worked with a guy for three years and never learned his name. Best friend I ever had. We still never talk sometimes.”

-Ron Swanson

Mike and I love our Thursday night line-up, not the least of which is Parks & Recreation.  My hubby’s favorite character is Ron Swanson and I wanted to do something a little…different…with this year’s Valentine for him.

I made this unique greeting using one of Ron Swanson’s famous lines from the show, “You had me at meat tornado.” and then embellished the card with lots of shiny German glass glitter.

I cut out a heart, popped it with some foam underneath and embellished it with more glitter.

Love it.

Mike said it’s probably the best card I have ever made him.  Boom.  Done.

Christmas in July

This year, I decided to participate in the Christmas in July festivities.
I have so many requests for Christmas cards all year long (who doesn’t love thinking of Christmas all the time?!) and it’s been so much fun to see so much red, green and sparkle around here!
Feelin’ the holiday spirit?  Stop in and stock up!

Close Knit

I love finding bargains!
I went to the semi-annual garage sale at Scrappin’ Time today and scored big time with this Bo Bunny grab bag!  I got several sheets of double-sided card stock for $2!  One person’s trash really IS another one’s treasure!
I came home and made this layout right away.  It worked perfectly with the picture I had printed several days ago.
Most of the embellishments on the page were made from the card stock itself.  I hand cut several arrows and stars.  I used my Cricut to cut the title and the swirly brown border in the middle.

Disneyland Mini Album

We took our son, along with the in-laws, to Disneyland early this month.  It was the first time our 3-year-old had been to the magic kingdom and he had a blast
I decided to make a mini-album for my mother-in-law as her Mother’s Day gift this year.
I just finished it today and wanted to share!  🙂

This is my favorite page of the album.  I hand-cut Jackson and layered him on top of glittery polka-dot card stock.
I love this picture of Mike in goggles.  It really captures his personality!
